I believe the pub finally closed in 1911 due to redundancy. The building there now was constructed in 1925, so was not the original pub.

Trials.

Albert Edward Champion, a young man, manager to his mother, who keeps the "Tartar Frigate Inn," High Street, Rochester, appealed against a conviction and sentenced by the city magistrates on November 11th, by which he was ordered to undergo a month's hard labour for an aggravated assault upon his wife.

Mr. Column said he had had a consultation with the prosecuterix and her father, and they were both satisfied that he was best for the pair to live together again, and that no further assault would take place. He suggested that the verdict should be one of defendant being bound over to come up for judgment if called upon, say for 12 months.

This the recorder agreed to.
