The "Royal Sovereign," closed in 1977 when there was massive change in this part of Chatham with the building of the Pentagon and widening roads.

I am informed by Graham Robertson that to the right of the pub was a yard where the local bakers, Bournes, garaged their vehicles. On the other side of the alley to the left of the pub was a tinsmiths.

The building was demolished shortly after closure in 1977.

This pub is one in the list of my "Project 2014."

I will be adding the historical information when I find or are sent it, but this project is a very big one, and I do not know when or where the information will come from.

All emails are answered.
