I have also found reference to an "Old Malt House" in 1872 also in Church Street but as yet no number.

Matthias Charles Garrett, landlord of the "Malthouse" beer-house, Chatham, was charged with having his house open for the sale of liquors at improper hours. Some of the individuals who were in the house stated that they were merely keeping up a christening party, but defendant was fined 10s. and costs.
