Gaiety Theatre 1906

Above photo, 1906, kindly sent by Tony Smith. The door on the left says "Private Bar."

The 1891 census described this venue as the Music Hall Gaiety.

Local knowledge, further pictures, and licensee information would be appreciated.

I will be adding the historical information when I find or are sent it, but this project is a very big one, and I do not know when or where the information will come from.

All emails are answered.

From an email received 29 August 2020.

My dear grandfather appeared on stage at this as was then a theatre and it was in the year of 1898 from my oldish memory.

He received a silver inscribed award for winning a competition on stage of which I still have with the name of the proprietor 'Wilton Forde'.

I have attached a photo for your reference.

Sincerely yours,

Mr. Vincent Posner.
