104 Coleman Street Chatham
The Pigot's Directory of 1872 indicated that the premises was operating under a Beer license and was owned by James Budden of Chatham. James Budden was owner of a wine and spirit business before amalgamating with Biggs Brothers Steam brewery of Strood in 1897. The 1882 directory gives the address as being 104 Fort Pitt Street. Ind Coope & Co Ltd purchased the pub from Budden & Biggs Brewery Ltd by conveyance and assignment dated 23 March 1931. The pub held a beer only license. The brewers advised of its closure in 1962, but the license didn't expire till 1973, but I believe it remained closed from the earlier date.
