54 (10 Chatham
I have reference to the address being 41 High Street in 1872. The same directory says the premises was operating as a Beerhouse and was owned by (John Henry) H L Toomer of 47 Harding Road, Ashford. After the death of William Nutton, his wife took over for a short time before remarrying a William Walter Jackson, licensee of the "Victoria Hotel," in Sheerness. Before 1938 the address was given as number 10. I am informed that the pub closed about 1972 and was demolished shortly afterwards to make way for the Chatham town centre road scheme which created the ring road and Pentagon centre.
