Man in critical condition with burns after suffering a cardiac arrest when a car caught fire outside the Wheatsheaf pub.

A man is in a critical condition after suffering a cardiac arrest and burns after a car caught fire in West Wickham.

Firefighters rescued the man from the flaming car which was parked in the car park of the Wheatsheaf pub, along the High Street, last night (October 15).

The London Ambulance Service (LAS) was called to reports of a car on fire just before 10pm.

A spokesman said they sent an ambulance crew, an incident response officer and a medical team for the Air Ambulance in a car.

They treated a man in cardiac arrest.

The 45-year-old - who also suffered burn injuries - was taken to a south London hospital as a priority.

The incident is not being treated as suspicious.

The pub declined to comment.

The Bromley local history society suggests that this has also been known as "Ye Olde Anthropologist" around 2011. Local knowledge appreciated please.
