SPORTSMAN FINED.

At Tonbridge Petty Sessions on Tuesday, Edward Bradbury, a gentleman, staying at "Temperance Hotel" at High-street, Edenbridge, was fined 2s. 6d. and 17s. 2d. costs for trespassing in search of game on land in occupation of Mr. James Kent, on August 25th.

William Chandler, gamekeeper to Mr. Kent, said at 5.30 on the morning of the day in question he heard two shots fired, and going in the direction of Coppenbury Wood saw the defendant coming out with a rabbit in one hand and a gun in the other.

Defendant said he was unaware that he was trespassing. He had permission from Mr. Charles Day to shoot in the adjoining meadow, and having shot a rabbit it ran into the wood, and he was compelled to follow it to put it out of its misery.
