The "Stork At Rest" was built on the site of a maternity home, destroyed in a Second World War air raid. It was named by Reg Bourne after he entered a competition at the Courage Brewery where he worked and won with the naming of this pub in 1957.

Closed in 2012 and sold to developers but no movement happened till 2018 when it was finally demolished and housing built over its foundations.
