Located to the East of the town, this pub has a rather bad reputation. Notice the presence of police officers outside the building! It was 1pm when the top picture was taken!

On the evening of our visit - there were 5 of us - the place was packed with what seemed like 13 year olds! Music was being played at full blast and we found it impossible to hold a conversation because of the racket. We were made to feel unwelcome, and were constantly stared at by the landlord.

On Friday 20th January 2006, a total of 70 police officers forced the landlord to stop trading, using the same powers to close down drug dens. Around 75 people were ejected from the pub, and 2 arrests were made. One on suspicion of possessing a controlled drug, the other for a public order offence. Police said a "very high reading" of cocaine and an amount of ecstasy had been found on the premises. Additionally, about one dozen teenagers names were taken, believed to be drinking whilst under age.

The following Wednesday, police applied to magistrates for the pub to be officially shut for a period of 3 months.

I have just completed the a list of known names of pubs in Sittingbourne, that is 40 named pubs. Now the hard part of gathering the historical information and photographs. Your help is needed.

As the information is found or sent to me, including photographs, it will be shown here.

Thanks for your co-operation. All emails are answered.
