This pub has been found as existing in East Street and the site of Becketts or Woods Brewery, St Andrew's Gardens, but with no exact address. This could indicate that the pub has been renamed or that the records are wrong or incomplete.

 

Also spelt as the "Lower Gunn," and also known as the "Gunne."

16 Jan 1580/1 Nicholas Bennett of the Goonne [Gunne], one of the Jurats.

 

31 Jan 1619/20. Richard Cockett, Innkeeper at the Gunne and one of the fouer and twenty.

 

Apr 1625. John Clayton, a Seaman bound for the East Indies who died at the Gunne.
