Street.
RAMSGATE'S newest nightspot, the Goose, officially opened last week with
a special black-tie party.
Formerly known as the "Sovereign," the Harbour Street pub reopened on
Friday following a £220,000 makeover, which has provided six new jobs.
The ribbon was cut by Mayor of Ramsgate, Councillor Kim Gibson during a
private reception for invited guests before the pub then opened to
punters a few hours later.
Kelly Taylor, manager of the "Goose," said: “A great pub is about offering
three key things – excellent service, exceptional food and drink, and a
memorable experience.
“I believe that we have always embraced this ethos and now, with a new
look pub and six new team members, we'll be even better placed to offer
an exceptional customer experience.”
The "Goose" was saved from closure last November when Stonegate Pub
Company purchased the pub after former owner Bramwell Pub Company
plunged into administration.
Stonegate, which owns the Slug and Lettuce and Yates's brands, owns 625
pubs across the UK and employees more than 12,000 people.
The "Sovereign" was a popular weekend venue for many revellers on the isle
and the "Goose" will also remain open late on Friday and Saturday night
with music from resident DJs.
The pub has also fitted a raised dining area and additional seating
booths to improve its dining experience.
Beer enthusiasts can enjoy the increased number of cask ale choices on
offer ranging from national favourites to locally sourced brews. The
"Goose" will open daily from 9.00am, seven days a week.
