The pub can be traced back as far as 1570 till 1730 as the "Dolphin" but changed name between 1730 and 1734 to the "City of London." It remained under that name till 1778 when it changed to the "Queen's Head." It changed names again between 1811 and 1812, this time to become the "Prince Regent." It is known under that name till 1832, but by 1880 it was again known as the "Dolphin" and eventually closed in 1909.
