PUB LIST PUBLIC HOUSES Paul Skelton

Earliest 1584

Bell and Green Dragon

Latest 1727+

(Name to)

Lower end of East Street

Gravesend

This pub has been found as existing in East Street and the site of Becketts or Woods Brewery, St Andrew's Gardens, but with no exact address. This could indicate that the pub has been renamed or that the records are wrong or incomplete.

There is also a possibility that the name changed to the "Brickmaker's Arms" at 24 Stone Street.

The pub was mentioned in the will of Margaret Berdesworth of 4th November 1589.

The pub may also be one and the same as has been referred to as simply the "Green Dragon." A note tells me that there may have been some confusion with the "Boot."

Project 2014 has been started to try and identify all the pubs that are and have ever been open in Kent. I have just started to map out the pubs that exist or existed in Gravesend, but need local knowledge and photographs, old and current if you have any.

As the information is found or sent to me, including photographs, it will be shown here.

Thanks for your co-operation. Every email is answered and all information referenced to the supplier.

This page will be updated as soon as further information is found.
