This pub has been found as existing in East Street and the site of Becketts or Woods Brewery, St Andrew's Gardens, but with no exact address. This could indicate that the pub has been renamed or that the records are wrong or incomplete.

Mentioned in the Milton Parish Registers of November 1580 and May 1605 as being at the Lower end of East Street.

14 Nov 1580. Thomas Harrys, a Carpenter, dyed at the Signe of the Barge where he hosted.

 

23 July 1583. Roger Warde (soe comonlie called for that hee was left by certen Guesst at the howse of Roger Warde of the Barge).

 

27 Jan 1585/6. Dorothie the daughter of one Margarett Butler (whoe was delivered of the saide childe at the Signe of the Bardge).

 

11 May 1605. Roger Ward, one of the Gonners of the Blockhouse dwellinge at the Signe of the Barge.

 

16 May 1633. George Phillpott, Victualler at the Barge.

 

5 Dec 1630 .John *, a stranger that died at the Barge.
