This was an early haunt for then unknown David Bowie. Living in Beckenham with a friend Mary Finnigan, the pair started a Folk Club there and they appearing every Sundays at the pub. It morphed into the Beckenham Arts Lab by popular request but became a Folk Club again after Mary Finnigen left, and David eventually gave up becoming disillusioned with the clientele - who he said, only wanted to be entertained.

The pub changed name to the "Rat and Parrott." Later changed name again to "Zizzi," dates of change unknown.
