The pub opened in 1834 but received extensive war damage in 1941 and from
then till 1955 a temporary hut was built on the site from which the beers
were served. A new building was erected in 1955 and is the one we see today.
In the 1930s this premises was supplied by Beasley's Ales.

Southeastern Gazette, 12 April 1853.
BEXLEY HEATH. Dreadful Destitution.
An inquest was held last week before C. J. Carttar, Esq., at the
"Rose Inn," on the body of a female named Neale, wife of a block
printer employed at Crayford, who died during her confinement, the
child being still-born, having been dead some time. The jury, on
proceeding to the residence of the woman, were astonished to find no
article of furniture in the house, and a more abject state of misery
could not possibly be conceived. The husband nevertheless has been
employed for some months past, earning no less than 30s. per week
regularly. After hearing the evidence adduced, the jury returned a
verdict of "Died by the visitation of God."
