Railway Tavern 1916

Above photo 1916.

The Kentish Mercury says it was a beer house under consideration for closure due to redundancy in 1908.

I am told by David Cohen that the pub closed in 1962 and has since been demolished. The street no longer exists except to the east.

I also have reference to another "Railway Tavern" in New Cross Road.

This was a former Wenlock Brewery tied house.

From the Borough of Greenwich Free Press, 19 January, 1856.
