I also have reference to another "Crown and Anchor" addressed at 7-8 King Street.

Reference has been found in a book called "A Collection of the Public General Statutes passed in the Eighth and Ninth year of Queen Victoria" (it proved to be legal jargon and as interesting a read as its title) published 1845. They were talking about an act referring to the better management of the affairs of the Greenwich Hospital. "Description of property:- A House and premises known as the "Crown and Anchor" Public House in the Ship Dock. Owners or reputed Owners:- Thomas Fry and George Fry. Lessees or reputed Lessees:- Thomas Muddell. Occupiers:- Thomas Muddell.

It has also been suggested that the name could have been the "Anchor and Crown" and that it turned into the "Golden Anchor" at some time.

I believe the "Crown and Anchor" was located next door to the "Chest," probably at number 6. The other side of this pub being a stable yard, probably belonging to the pub.
