The postcard was commissioned by the then owner Leonard Melville Paul Joskey 1890-1968 in 1934 to mark a major refurbishment of the hotel. The well known German writer Uwe Johnson used the Saloon Bar bar. Which in his day 1974-1984 hadn’t changed very much for these images.

The following applications for new licenses were heard:—  Wm. McKee. “Sea View Tavern," Sheerness; the application was granted.

The better off artists performing in the town's theatres used to stay here before WW2.

Beat group the Rebounds used to run the Rebounds Dance Club at the "Sea View Hotel" in 1962. Dances were held upstairs every Sunday evening and included other bands such as the Blackstars, the Cavaliers, Chaos and Co, the Cloverleaves, Count Zeppelin and the Bombers, the Cygnets, the Pathfinders, to name but a few, the most popular being the Discoteks, and also R & B for the Lower Third Contact, including the man who became David Bowie.
