This pub is one in the list of my "Project 2014."

As such I haven't found a picture of the pub yet, and to date have little other information. Local knowledge, further pictures, and licensee information would be appreciated.

I will be adding the historical information when I find or are sent it, but this project is a very big one, and I do not know when or where the information will come from.

All emails are answered.

From the Kentish Gazette, 5 September 1865.

ST AUGUSTINE’S PETTY SESSIONS.

Saturday. (Before Geo. Neame, Esq., Captain Slarke, T. H. Mackay, Esq., William Plummer, Esq., T. G. Peckham, Esq., and P. Marten, Esq.)

The Annual Licensing Day.

This was a special Petty Sessions for granting authorities to renew public house licenses, and to consider applications for permission to obtain spirit licenses for houses which had not hitherto enjoyed that privilege. The customary authority for renewal of licenses was granted to all the landlords of existing public houses who attended. In the case of Robert Glass, of the "Rising Sun," Herne Bay, the authority was only granted on the assurance that the landlord is about to give up the house, which, according to the reports of the police he has conducted in a very unsatisfactory and irregular manner. P.C. George Tucker stated that Mr. Glass and his wife have been in the habit of getting drunk and making disturbances to the annoyance of their neighbours, and that they were totally unfit to conduct the business.
