George Knight, "Good Intent," Milton.

Begs to announce that he has commenced the business of a coal merchant, and is now preparing to supply coals of superior quality, wholesale or retail, upon very moderate terms.

All orders will be promptly attended to.

Early on Friday morning a fire broke out in a beam of the "Good Intent" public house, Milton-next-Sittingbourne, and there was fear of the whole premises being ignited. The Milton Fire Brigade was quickly on the scene and put the fire out in a few minutes. Captain E. N. Craig was in command.

Court proceedings report.

Thomas George Dennis, licensed victualler, of the Good Intent Inn, King-street, Milton, sued Hope Warner, marine store dealer, of Bridge Street, Milton, for £16/10/0.

Mr. Dixon, in opening the case, said the claim was one for rent, the defendant having occupied part of the plaintiff's premises for over three years, from December 26th, 1900, to February 6th, 1904.

Plaintiff stated that at the rear of his premises in King Street, Milton, he had coach house, with stabling for four horses, and two lofts. When he took over the house in December, 1900 he found the defendant in possession.

Death of Mr. George Colman, 78. He came to Sittingbourne with his parents at a fairly fairly young age, his father having at taken the licence of the former Good Intent Inn in King Street, Milton [1876?], which occupied the site of the present offices of the Milton Gas Works.

At the Milton Council the Surveyor (Mr. A W Callaway) reported that the demolition of the former licensed house in King Street, the Good Intent, had been completed [1924].

 

In the 1860s under the tenancy of Mr. Knight. The Foresters held their meetings here, and those in connection with the Shepherds Society.
