Carpenter's Arms 1910

Above photo circa 1910.

This pub was lost to road widening so would have stood in the middle of the junction of lower and Upper Stone Street, Mote Road, and Knightrider Street. known as Wrens Cross.

Wrens Cross is named as they were building the Police station a builder happen to see a wren and said he looks cross so that became known as Wrens Cross. There are now flats half way up Upper Stone Street called Wrens Cross.

I will be adding the historical information when I find or are sent it, but this project is a very big one, and I do not know when or where the information will come from.

All emails are answered.
