A 1/4d Traders Trading Token, bearing the letters NLD, At the "King's Head" has been found and dated 1649.

Above postcard circa 1940, suggested, but not confirmed that this is the "King's Head."

 

I am informed that the pub closed in 1971. This was a former Courage tied house.

Inquests.

On Monday afternoon an inquest was held at the "King's Head," Church-street, Deptford before C. J. Carttar, Esq., on the body of a little girl, aged two years and three months, daughter of Mr. John Baker, 4, Peel-terrace, St. Nicholas, Deptford, who died suddenly on the 2nd ult. A verdict of "Died from natural causes" was returned.
